Abstract: Tourism, in a narrow sense, represents priority branch of national
economy which actively participates in formation of a total national product. In wider
understanding, tourism can be characterized as the branch of a national economy
uniting set of other branches, the tourists connected with service according to a
uniform work cycle. In essence, it is a question of a uniform tourist complex in which
tourist functions are reduced to delivery of tourists to destinations, maintenance with
their food, residing and leisure. For manufacture of a tourist product it is necessary to
organize process of formation, involving, use, regulation and control of resources,
taking into account achievement of criteria of economic efficiency of resource
management. Now the basic economic indicator of result of tourist activity is the total
tourist product - total volume of the goods and the services, made (consumed) in
tourism sphere. In cost expression the tourist product is estimated in two ways: as
the sum of expenses of tourists (tourist expenses); as the sum of expenses for
manufacture of a tourist product. Considering the social importance of sphere of
tourism, the author offers instead of the traditional economic approach to an
estimation of a total tourist product to pass to complex social and economic resource
saving to the approach.
